This is the Big Wild Goose Pagoda of Xian (not to be confused with the Small Wild Goose Pagoda of Xian). |

This is as close as I got to the top of the pagoda due to the building having become unstable after the tragic earthquake in the province. |

One of the events I attending was the Shaanxi Grand Opera performance. It was very colorful and one of the few times when you are allowed to take pictures or video of a performance. |

Xian is known for it's dumplings so dinner is served prior to the performance. One of the characteristic touches is for the dumplings to physically represent what they are made of. In this case, we have a little fish-shaped dumpling with peas for eyes so he has fish inside :-) |

I spent half a day hiking up Hua Shan mountain. These are the stairs you take to get up to base camp; from there you can hike up to one of five peaks. Going this way would take several days.... I took the tram :-) |

This kitty's job is to draw your attention to the sign ;-) |

This is one of the stops along the way to the peaks. |

Of course, you can't go to Xian without visiting the world-famous terra cotta warriors (check them out live in the new Mummy movie). |
